 Dr. Wenhua Zhao: Chief Scientist in Nutrition of China CDC,research professor of National Institute for Nutrition and Health of China CDC.

Dr. Zhao has worked in the field of public health for 39 years. Her expertise includes nutrition epidemiology and NCDs control and prevention in China. Dr. Zhao was the field director of the China National Nutrition and Health Survey in 2002 and the Director of National Working Group of 2010 China Chronic Disease and Behavior Risk Factors Surveillance. Dr. Zhao was determined to lead the establishment and application of Chinese Food Frequency Questionnaire (CFFQ). Dr. Zhao has worked on the prevalence, economic burden, causes and intervention strategies of obesity in China for more than 25 years. She also has extensive experiences on policy research, health promotion and education on balanced diet and active lifestyle. Dr. Zhao was the chief editor of the first Physical Activity Guidelines for Chinese Adults and published by People’s Health Publishing House in 2011.

 

Dr. Zhao has published more than 170 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Lancet, JAMA, Obesity Review, Public Health Nutrition, Nutrients, BES etc., and 12books. She has received 5 awards named Advanced Science and Technology Reward from CPMA, and 2 awards from Chinese Medical Association (CMA) in the last 10 years.

 

Dr. Zhao is the Chair of Society for NCDs Control and prevention, Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA). She is a member of WHO and UNICEF Technical Expert Advisory group on nutrition Monitoring (TEAM).
